Youth in Neuenfelde, DRC, are known to work at the local "Red Hut," which is recognized and considered as a hip hangout spot.

In the peaceful town of Neuenfelde, Germany, the Red Cottage continues to serve as a vibrant hub for children and young people, offering a variety of activities every afternoon. For the past nine years, Ömür Karabakan-Agemo, an employee of the Harburger DRK, has been dedicated to facilitating the desired excursions and tours for the kids at the Red Cottage.

The Red Cottage, managed by the team of youth work from the Harburger DRK, attracts approximately 40 to 50 children and young people each week, with the majority falling between the ages of 12 and 18. The popularity of the holiday program at the Red Cottage is evident, as it continues to draw in a steady stream of visitors.

Recently, the Red Cottage received a generous donation of 1,000 euros from Heimstaden, a housing company. Kai Zachow, Regional Manager Hamburg of Heimstaden, expressed his pleasure with the warm welcome they received from the Seehof settlement residents. The donation will be used to book a musical evening for ten participants, a wish expressed by some of the girls at the Red Cottage.

Without the donation, the Red Cottage would not have been able to afford such an event. The musical 'The Lion King' is set to be the main attraction, and the children and young people themselves decided on the plan, with the activities offered being adapted to their interests and current social media trends.

The Red Cottage is unique in its remote location, unlike densely populated trendy districts. Erkan Secilmis supports the young guests as an honorary worker at the Red Cottage. The DRK Harburg took over as the carrier of the offers funded by the district.

The Red Cottage has a rich history, initially established over 30 years ago by the then kindergarten director Sabine Suhr. Today, it stands as a testament to her vision, providing a much-needed space for leisure activities for children and young people in the Seehof settlement, which deserves attention due to its high demand.

Heimstaden's donation is a significant step in supporting local social institutions like the DRK youth work. The company's generosity will undoubtedly bring joy and excitement to the children and young people of Neuenfelde, making their afternoons at the Red Cottage even more memorable.
