"Yakutsk hosts the launch of 'City of Masters' exhibition-fair"
In Yakutsk, the historic Old Town played host to a two-day Craftsmen's Fair on May 29 and 30, as part of the "Created in the Far East" creative industries forum. Over thirty local craftspeople presented their traditional work, providing visitors with an opportunity to immerse themselves in Yakutian culture through workshops and product displays.
Saiana Goglova, head of the information and methodological department of the national center "Simyekh," explained that the event not only features established artists but also young designers: "We offer a blend of traditional and modern crafts, as well as demonstrating how experience is being passed on to our younger generation."
The fair's highlight, the "World of Yakutian Dolls" exhibition, celebrates the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and showcases over 50 handmade, exquisitely detailed pieces from various Yakutian regions.
Miroslava Shulgalataya, curator of the Yakutia Doll Union, noted that Yakutian masters have been trained by Russian leaders and actively participate in national and international exhibitions.
Goglova emphasized the unique atmosphere of the fair, situated within the rich historical context of Old Town: "Anyone can engage in workshops and become part of our fascinating tradition."
