Women's Cycling Course in Nordhorn Successfully Concludes, Paving the Way for New Participants

A second round of a women's cycling course in the city of Nordhorn has come to a successful conclusion, with all ten participants successfully completing the course. The course, designed for beginners, was led by certified cycling instructor Theresia Debeerst-Debevere, a member of the ADFC who follows the "moveo ergo sum" method of the Cycling Instructors' Association.

The course, offered as a block event lasting a few days, aimed to teach participants to ride a bike and build their confidence on two wheels. Theresia Debeerst-Debevere prepared the participants step by step with light exercises, providing training equipment and special scooters to help them get started.

In the final stages of the course, the participants, accompanied by their trainer and the regional ADFC chairman Burkhard Werner, went on a ten-kilometer ride through the city and to the Dutch border. The photo shows the participants with their certificates, along with instructor Theresia Debeerst-Debevere and Helga van Wieren from the city's Equal Opportunities Office.

The success of the first course led to the offering of a second course. The organizers, including the Equal Opportunities Office of the City of Nordhorn, aim to increase women's mobility, foster intercultural understanding, and reduce fears while promoting healthy activity. The course is carried out in cooperation with SV Vorwärts Nordhorn.

The women's cycling course in Nordhorn has been organized by the Equal Opportunities Office of the City of Nordhorn for many years. The course is open to women of all nationalities and ages, making it an inclusive and welcoming environment for all who wish to learn to cycle.

After the course, the participants were able to go on their first cycling tour around Nordhorn, a testament to the success of the programme and the confidence built among the participants. The organisers hope that this course will inspire more women to take up cycling and enjoy the benefits of this healthy and environmentally-friendly mode of transport.
