Garden and Blueberry Patch Updates: A Summer of Abundance

In the heart of summer, the Lowe family's garden is flourishing, providing a bounty of produce and beautiful blooms.

Lori, a dedicated worker, has been tending to the garden for an hour or two every morning, about four to five times a week. Her efforts have been rewarded this year, making it the best garden season so far. The garden is brimming with squash, zucchini, purple beans, and, of course, the 12-foot tall sunflowers that Samuel and Kaitlyn adore.

The family's garden box has become a haven for these towering sunflowers, adding a splash of yellow to their outdoor space. Alongside the sunflowers, zinnias and snapdragons have started to bloom, creating a vibrant and colourful display.

However, the garden hasn't been without its challenges. Lori has battled squash bugs, hornworms, and deer damage, but her determination has paid off.

Meanwhile, the blueberry patches across multiple farms are in peak condition, thanks to the warm and stable weather this season. Farms like Sunnycrest, Rhynard's, and Turkey Hill are reporting very good to excellent picking conditions, with peak picking expected or ongoing. Customers have been enjoying fresh-picked blueberries, and farm operations continue with typical hours and pricing.

Mama lent a hand in the blueberry patch, and Lori stayed and helped on Monday morning until noon. The blueberry work was appreciated as it alleviated the constant workload.

Inside the home, Andy, the family's creative problem solver, made cardboard cars for the kids to watch a movie at home after their second movie outing to see the live action of "How to Train Your Dragon."

On a more personal note, Lori enjoys a refreshing summer salad made with lettuce, strawberries, blueberries, almonds, and raw cheese. Tilly and Samuel, too, have been creative, carving their names in their pumpkins, although no specific information about food from the pumpkins was provided.

As August rolls in, the blueberry patches remain active, well-maintained, and highly productive, while the garden continues to provide a delightful array of produce and flowers for the Lowe family to enjoy.

The Lowe family has incorporated homeschooling into their lifestyle during summer, using the garden's bountiful food-and-drink such as fresh strawberries, blueberries, and lettuce for their meals. In their home-and-garden, they cherished the flowers, like sunflowers and blooming zinnias, as part of their entertainment, with Samuel and Kaitlyn adoring the towering sunflowers, making their outdoor space vibrant and delightful.
