In the heart of Yekaterinburg, the City Pond embankment north of the Makaryev Bridge has been chosen as the permanent venue for the innovative environmental project, "Atmosphest". This decision, made in 2024, marks a significant milestone for the city and its commitment to sustainable urban development.

The VII International Landscape Art Festival "AtmoFest", which recently opened, showcases the phytoremediation bioplatform, a unique initiative designed to use plants to improve environmental conditions. This platform, introduced for the first time, contains 1,000 aquatic plants that are working hard to clean and restore polluted air and soil.

The expansion of the "Atmosphest" venue up to the 19th-century dam on the Olkhovka River is a future goal. By 2027, the project aims to extend the green area, creating a more verdant and cleaner cityscape for all to enjoy.

The City Pond embankment is a new addition to the "Atmosphest" venue, transforming it into a vibrant and eco-friendly space. Last year's gardens have been updated with new green hedges spanning 70 meters, 1,247 shrubs, and 1,223 perennial flowers. Over 3,500 plants have been planted in the water-landscape park, creating a picturesque scene that not only beautifies the area but also contributes to environmental remediation.

To further enhance the urban environmental quality, "Hotels" for insects have been installed, providing natural material houses for beetles' wintering needs. It's worth noting that 90% of insects are beneficial to the city, helping prevent soil compaction.

The theme of this year's festival is summer vacation, transforming the park into a garden with lounge chairs, boats, and a blooming shoreline. The "AtmoFest" will host foresight sessions from August 15 to 24, gathering landscape specialists from various cities to discuss the impact of the landscape industry on urban development. Additionally, the program includes stand-up paddleboarding competitions with over 100 athletes and enthusiasts participating.

It's important to note that "Atmosphest" has not previously announced a permanent venue in Yekaterinburg, making this development a exciting step forward for the project and the city. The decision to secure a permanent venue for "Atmosphest" in Yekaterinburg underscores the city's commitment to environmental sustainability and innovative urban development.

Organizers of "Atmosphest" will maintain a section of the shore each year, ensuring the continued growth and health of the project. With its new permanent home, "Atmosphest" is poised to make a lasting impact on the environment and the community of Yekaterinburg.

The environmental project "Atmosphest" has extended its venue to the City Pond embankment, transforming it into an eco-friendly space that incorporates both science (environmental-science) and lifestyle (lifestyle). The project's expansion includes the installation of aquatic plants for phytoremediation (science), green hedges, shrubs, and flowers (home-and-garden), creating a cleaner and more picturesque city environment.
