In the picturesque town of Marmstorf, Germany, the 22nd Marmstorfer Teichwette event took place, breaking the previous visitor record with approximately 3450 people attending. The event, which raised funds for the Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft (DLRG), was hosted by Johannes "Jojo" Tapken and Jan Stahl.

Jens Riewa, a renowned Tagesschau announcer and the event's patron, added an extra dash of excitement to the day. A bet was made with Jochen Meyer, Marmstorf's shooting king, to meet in the middle of the lake without getting wet.

With spirits high, Jens Riewa doubled his initial bet from 250 euros to 1000 euros. As he arrived at the betting site, captured in a photo by cb, the crowd around the Feuerteich swelled with anticipation.

The bet ended in a draw, with both Jens Riewa and Jochen Meyer meeting in the middle of the lake. The event's climax saw Jens Riewa entertaining the audience with witty remarks and humour, before reciting a poem on a wobbly raft.

The Marmstorf Spielmannszug and the Grün-Weiß Samba group provided music for the event, setting the perfect atmosphere for the day. Jens Riewa expressed satisfaction with the event, stating it was sensational and expressed interest in using the setup for further media purposes.

The funds raised from bets and sales of sausages, pea soup, and other delicacies at the event were donated to the DLRG, ensuring the continuation of their vital work. The previous visitor record was set in 2020 with Lotto King Karl, but Jens Riewa's epic lake adventure has undoubtedly left a lasting impression on the people of Marmstorf.
