In the city of Solingen, residents are advised of changes to their waste collection schedule due to the collection of Christmas trees. The new schedule is listed in both the waste navigator and the waste calendar of the city.

The collection of residual and organic waste bins, as well as the yellow and blue residual bins, will be postponed in the following week, with the exact dates to be adjusted accordingly. The collection of used Christmas trees, which was originally scheduled for January 10th, has been postponed.

The city's Technical Operations (TBS) will carry out the Christmas tree collection. To ensure a smooth process, residents are asked to place their undecorated trees, without nets, bags, or ornaments, visibly in front of their properties by 7:00 AM on the new collection date, January 13th.

For the week following the Christmas tree collection, the collection of residual and organic waste bins will be postponed by one day. For instance, if your regular collection day is Monday, it will be moved to Tuesday. The Friday collection will be made up on Saturday, January 18th. Each subsequent collection will be one day later than originally scheduled.

Collection points will also be available to aid in the collection of the trees. It is important to note that the trees' trunk diameter must not exceed 15 centimeters, and the length must not exceed two meters to ensure they do not hinder or endanger traffic.

After collection, the trees will be composted at the composting facility of Waste Management Solingen. This process is part of the city's waste management and recycling programs, where the composted trees are often used for mulch, compost, or biomass for energy purposes.

For precise information about Solingen’s Christmas tree collection points and the recycling process, residents are encouraged to check the official Solingen city website or contact local waste management services directly. City websites usually publish seasonal schedules and locations for such collections, along with explanations about how the trees are processed afterward.

The collection of used Christmas trees is not just a home-and-garden matter, but also a part of Solingen's lifestyle, with the collection aimed to begin on January 13th. To support the home-and-garden waste management, the collection of residual and organic waste bins will be adjusted following the Christmas tree collection, with each subsequent collection day moving one day later than originally scheduled.
