Travel by foot and public transit in 2025: An overview

In the autumn months of October, November, and December 2025, the municipal waste management department in Bergisch Gladbach will be collecting leaves and brushwood from city gardens. To participate in this service, residents can purchase paper bags for their leaf and brushwood collection at several local sales points.

From mid-September, paper bags for leaf and brushwood collection will be available at specified sales points across Bergisch Gladbach, Bensberg, Refrath, Schildgen, Paffrath, Gronau, and Herkenrath. These include hardware stores, garden centers, and municipal recycling centers, as well as supermarkets such as Edeka-Market Teske in Bensberg, OBI-DIY Market in Bergisch Gladbach and Bensberg, and Kult-Kiosk-Shop and Kiosk 40a in Refrath. The bags can also be found at the OBI-DIY Market in Bergisch Gladbach, Jakobstraße 57, Bauzentrum Tönnes, Paffrather Straße 144 - 150, Wertstoffhof Kippemühle, and Breidohr Fresh-Center in Gronau.

Each sales point will have paper bags priced at 0.80 euros per piece. It's important to note that only paper bags are allowed for collection, as plastic or jute bags are not permitted.

To arrange for a collection, residents must register in advance. Registrations for the October collection can be made immediately, while registrations for November and December collections will open on October 10th and November 14th, respectively. Registrations can be made by email at [email protected]. The AWB kindly asks to refrain from telephone registrations due to the large number of requests.

Each registration will result in one appointment for collection. Collections will take place in October in the 41st week, in November in the 46th week, and in December in the 50th week. On the day of collection, residents should have their leaves in paper bags and one bundle of brushwood per collection point (maximum diameter 30 cm, maximum length 1 m) ready for pick-up.

Sales points for the bags in Bergisch Gladbach include Sand, Edeka-Market Hetzenegger, located at Herkenrather Straße 70, Moitzfeld, EDEKA Hetzenegger, located at Moitzfeld 72, and Herkenrath, EDEKA Hetzenegger Beverage Market, located at Straßen 69-71. Paffrath, located at Beverage Market, Kempener Straße 79, and Schildgen, located at Kempener Straße 235, are also sales points for paper bags for leaf and brushwood collection.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this service to help keep the city clean and green during the autumn months. Happy collecting!
