The Singapore Art Museum (SAM) has announced the highly anticipated Singapore Biennale 2025 (SB2025), which promises to redefine the way we perceive and engage with art. Running from 31 October 2025 to 29 March 2026, SB2025 invites audiences to rediscover Singapore through the lens of contemporary art.

The theme of SB2025 is 'pure intention', exploring how art reframes everyday experiences. Key locations for this biennale include the Rail Corridor South, Wessex Estate, Tanglin Halt, Civic District, Orchard, and SAM at Tanjong Pagar Distripark.

Over 100 artworks, including more than 30 new commissions, will be presented across these locations. SB2025 features more than 80 artists from Singapore and across the globe, with participating artists hailing from countries like Argentina, Australia, Germany, India, South Korea, Türkiye, the United States, and Southeast Asia.

One of the highlights at Tanjong Pagar Distripark is Pierre Huyghe's (France/Chile) Offspring, which transforms light, smoke, and algorithmic scores into unique experiences for each visitor. Eisa Jocson (Philippines) collaborates with Filipino domestic workers through karaoke-based commissions, while Kapwani Kiwanga (Canada/France) commemorates Rwanda's independence with Flowers for Africa: Rwanda, a living monument of fresh foliage.

Gala Porras-Kim (Colombia/USA/UK) explores the histories of communities and their labor in Singapore's Civic District, and Tuan Pin Pin (Singapore) reflects on the interplay of Singapore's past, present, and future. Tuan Andrew Nguyen's (Vietnam/USA) Temple installation invites audiences to participate in a healing soundscape using materials from defused ordnance in central Vietnam.

David Neo, Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, stated that SB2025 offers an opportunity to understand and appreciate Singapore at SG60 through contemporary art. The National Arts Council, Singapore (NAC) commissioned and organised SB2025.

Admission to SAM at Tanjong Pagar Distripark requires tickets (SGD15 for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents, SGD25 for tourists and foreign residents), while all other public venues are free and open to all.

In addition, the Asian Film Archive marks its 20th anniversary with newly commissioned installations and an experimental film programme. The name of the curatorial board (Kuratorium) for the Singapore Biennale 2025 is not provided in the available search results.

SB2025 seeks to illuminate the ordinary, encouraging audiences to engage with art in unexpected contexts. By questioning the political narratives embedded in historical dioramas at Tanjong Pagar Distripark, SB2025 promises to be a thought-provoking and enlightening experience for all.
