Children's Angling Camp at Hohe Dune: A Weekend of Learning and Fun
Last weekend, 45 young anglers aged 4 to 14 gathered at Hohe Dune for an exciting angling camp. Hosted by the Circle of Anglers Association of the Rostock district and the MAV "Beach Brothers", the event focused on refining casting techniques, building rigs, teaching fish knowledge, and promoting animal and nature conservation.
The camp began with a practical angling meeting to assess the children's performance level. As the sun rose over the coastal dunes, the children were awakened and eager to start their angling adventure.
Micha, an experienced angler, set up a stand to build rigs with the children. He demonstrated his skills, and the young anglers followed suit, building their own rigs and testing them. Fish were caught immediately after the self-made rigs were tested, much to the delight of the young anglers.
Throughout the weekend, the children attended sessions on fish knowledge and nature conservation. They learned about aquatic ecosystems, conservation of dunes and coastal habitats, respecting nature, and sustainable fishing practices.
The group also visited a seal station, which was enthusiastically received. They attended a service for seafarers and anglers with the pastor, and each child enjoyed a delicious grilled sausage for dinner, prepared by Heiko from KAV LRO.
On the final day, the LAV's info-mobile arrived, bringing information about fishing and nature conservation. The weekend ended with some presents for the young anglers, marking the end of an unforgettable angling camp at Hohe Dune.
