The European Parliament has passed a resolution outlining its function within its various tasks.
The old town of Lichtenfels, Germany, will once again come alive with the vibrant energy of the annual Lichtenfels Basket Market. From September 19 to 21, 2025, this significant international basketry event will attract visitors from all over the world.
Kicking off the festivities on Friday, September 19, 2025, the Lichtenfels Fanfare Band and the Leuchsentaler Brass Band will perform at the start of the festival. The traditional beer tapping will follow at around 6:30 PM, setting the tone for an evening filled with schlager hits from the 60s and 70s, courtesy of Die barmherzigen Plateausohlen. The highlight of the night, however, will be the rock'n'roll performance by Rickbop & The Hurricanes, starting at 7 PM.
On Saturday, September 20, 2025, the day will start with brass music, followed by a variety of performances. Ines Procter, a renowned patron and cabaret artist, will take the stage at around 2:30 PM. Later in the day, various important guests will perform, but the exact lineup remains undisclosed. The evening will see the performance of AB/CD, an ACDC cover band, at around 6:30 PM.
The event will also feature a large basket art installation in front of the city church and a special exhibition in the city castle. Numerous hands-on activities for families and children, such as the basket carousel, theater, and street art, will be available throughout the weekend.
On Sunday, September 21, 2025, an ecumenical church service will take place in the morning. Over 80 basket makers, exhibitors, and artists from 18 countries and five continents will participate in the 2025 event. The 4th International Short Film Festival "Basket Culture - Weaving Culture" will also be a part of the festival.
The patroness of the Lichtenfels Basket Market in 2025 has yet to be announced. Visiting queens will be presented on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at an unspecified time.
