Temporary Swimming Restriction at Neumühlsee in Waldenburg: Guidelines for Visitors
The popular bathing spot, NeuMuhlsee in Waldenburg, has been closed for swimming due to unsuitable water conditions. The closure, announced by the ASC Waldenburg fishing club via a statement on Facebook, comes as a precautionary measure to protect public health.
The NeuMuhlsee, a 400-year-old lake, has been a favourite summer destination for locals and visitors from Hohenlohe and the surrounding region. However, the ASC Waldenburg has warned guests not to let children bathe in algae patches and advised against swallowing water while bathing due to the current conditions.
The discoloration of the lake water is attributed to a lack of fresh water, and the ASC Waldenburg has taken steps to improve the situation by adding more lime to the lake. Despite these efforts, the lake continues to get greener, indicating potential elevated levels of pollutants or harmful bacteria.
The ASC Waldenburg has also issued a warning for dog owners, advising against letting their dogs into the lake due to potential life-threatening consequences. The closure is not just limited to bathing, as the lake's general ban on dog bathing remains in effect.
The NeuMuhlsee is more than just a bathing spot, with a campsite and an inn for refreshments. The closure may cause inconvenience to many, but the ASC Waldenburg has asked for understanding during this period.
The lake was closed for bathing on July 17 at 5 pm, and swimming is scheduled to be allowed again from Friday, July 18. However, the ASC Waldenburg fishing club has not yet specified when the lake will reopen for bathing.
The temporary closure of the NeuMuhlsee may affect bathers from the Hohenlohe region and surrounding areas. The ASC Waldenburg urges everyone to follow the closure guidelines for the safety and well-being of all.
Despite the NeuMuhlsee being a popular destination for outdoor-living enthusiasts, especially at home-and-garden weekend retreats, the current water conditions have forced its closure for swimming. The ASC Waldenburg has recommended that visitors enjoy the lake's other attractions, such as the campsite and inn, until the water quality improves.
