Takoma Park's Annual Folky Bash in Maryland
On September 7, 2025, the Takoma Park Middle School will host the Takoma Park Folk Festival, a free event that promises a diverse and exciting day out for both adults and children.
The festival will feature around 50 performances spread across seven stages, showcasing a variety of musical genres. Among the performers are Gilberg and her band, featuring her husband Gary Prince, the duo Black Oranges, Lev with voices from ancestral interviews, and Caryn Chavarria, the 2025 contest winner and a multimedia Latina artist from Rockville.
But the music isn't the only attraction. The festival offers a variety of activities beyond the stage, including a juried craft show, a bustling food market offering delicacies from around the world, community tables where local nonprofit groups will have a presence, and a Children's Nook, a special area designed for young festival-goers.
For those planning to attend, free parking will be available, and shuttle buses will be on hand to facilitate festival transportation.
The Takoma Park Folk Festival aims to celebrate a vibrant tapestry of music and culture, bringing together the community for a day of entertainment, learning, and fun. So mark your calendars, and we'll see you there!
