Yakutsk Sanitation Cleanup Drives Forward Under Deputy Mayor's Leadership
Deputy Mayor of Yakutsk, Vladislav Sleptsov, chaired a meeting focused on sanitation cleanup at the city's headquarters on Monday. The spring cleanup campaign is scheduled to wrap up on June 1st, with beautification initiatives to continue unabated thereafter.
The discussion centered on managing household waste, eliminating illegal dumping sites, and addressing the accumulation of solid communal waste (SCW). To effectively tackle this issue, foot patrols in urban districts and the city outskirts are ongoing, with special attention given to waste disposal near lakes, city squares, and parks. The conservation of abandoned houses also remains a priority.
Favorable weather conditions have reduced the need for stormwater pumping in Yakutsk, though operations continue. As of May 27th, MUP "Zhilkomservis" had pumped out 80 cubic meters of water, bringing the total since April to 38,700 cubic meters. Contractor organizations, working in urban districts and outskirts, have pumped out over 1,500 cubic meters of water daily, with the seasonal total surpassing 155,000 cubic meters.
In addition to water management, AO "Yakutdorstroy" has been actively working on clearing roadside areas of sand and preparing the road surface.
Reports on the implementation of comprehensive sanitation cleanup measures were presented during the meeting. These included street cleaning, waste disposal, building facade washing, and city-wide cleanup campaigns. As of May 26th, more than 8,500 bags of waste had been collected, and the progress of cleaning sidewalks, trash cans, and vehicle wheels on construction sites was reported.
