Southern England's Coastline Traversed by King Charles III's New Path
Southern England is witnessing an exciting transformation in its coastal access, with several sections of the coastline now open to the public or in various stages of development.
In the region stretching from Calshot to Gosport, the improvement project is progressing well. The sections from Calshot to Gosport and Gosport to Portsmouth are now open for public enjoyment, offering stunning views and opportunities for outdoor activities. The final stretch, from Gosport to Portsmouth, has already been completed, providing a continuous coastal path for walkers, cyclists, and nature enthusiasts. The improvement of this section is expected to be finished by 2026.
Moving westward, the section from East Head to Shoreham is currently open to the public, allowing visitors to explore the picturesque coastline. However, further along the coast, the section from South Hayling to East Head is still in the development stage, with work ongoing to establish the route for public use.
Meanwhile, in the Isle of Wight, some sections are open to the public, while others are in different stages. Some areas are currently in the 'determining' stage, which means the route is being carefully planned to ensure the best possible experience for visitors. Other sections are in the 'work to establish the route' stage, not yet available for public use.
Lastly, the section from Portsmouth to South Hayling is also in the 'work to establish the route' stage, with efforts underway to make this stretch accessible to the public.
This coastal access development project aims to create a continuous path along the southern coast of England, enhancing the region's natural beauty and providing more opportunities for outdoor activities and exploration. Stay tuned for more updates on the progress of these exciting developments!
