Sophisticated charm thrives in the center of Hong Kong's Repulse Bay district.

Nestled in the heart of Repulse Bay, a high-rise apartment transformed by Hong Kong design firm Studiossoo embodies a sleek and tasteful aesthetic. This 2,060 square foot one-bedroom flat caters to its owner's passion for music, entertainment, and fine furnishings.

Originating from the real estate industry, the flat's occupant had been living here for ten years before realizing a change was in order. He handed over the reins to Studiossoo's founder, Samantha Soo, requesting a complete overhaul for himself and his partner, favoring a muscular design.

The challenge lied in creating an understated yet impactful backdrop for the client's European brands like Hermès, Giorgetti, and Mathieu Lustrerie. According to Soo, "A blank canvas doesn't mean it's easily designed."

To add depth and nuance to the space, Soo incorporated hardy materials such as bush-hammered copper and brushed bronze. These were juxtaposed with darker tones such as black and metallic grey, avant-garde contrasted with beige accents from materials such as Ceppo Monet marble and travertine stone, creating a harmonious blend of subtly refined luxury.

In adhering to the client's preferences, Soo employed a combination of raw finishes alongside polished accents. As Soo explains," The client likes marble, but not too much of it." She traded extravagance for elegance by using matte finishes to appease the client's sophistication.

Functionality and personalization were integral aspects of the design as well. The apartment features a music room and a discreetly concealed bar, catering to the owner's love of entertainment. This balance of form and function, coupled with Studiossoo's distinct design philosophy, culminated in an apartment that is at once visually striking and emblematic of its owner's lifestyle.
