Solaris set to deliver 79 more electric buses to MZA Warsaw
Miejskie Zakłady Autobusowe (MZA) Warsaw, a long-time partner of Solaris Bus & Coach, has decided to expand its cooperation with the Polish manufacturer. This development marks another major step towards a green, eco-friendly capital city in Poland.
According to the recently signed contract, MZA Warsaw will purchase 79 electric cars from Solaris. The order consists of 50 Urbino 18 electric articulated cars and 29 Urbino 12 electric cars. Delivery of the new Solaris cars is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026.
The expansion of Solaris's cooperation with MZA Warsaw is expected to reinforce Solaris's position as one of Europe's leaders in zero-emission transport. Moreover, it will further solidify Solaris's position as a key player in the European market for zero-emission transport solutions.
Each car will be equipped with Solaris High Energy batteries. The 12-metre models will utilize 500 kWh batteries, and the 18-metre models will use 700 kWh batteries. The vehicles will feature a modular drive system architecture, increasing potential passenger capacity.
Each vehicle will also come with assistance systems, including blind spot monitoring and a driver drowsiness warning system. Charging for the cars will be handled via a plug-in connector.
The ultimate goal of these investments is to make the capital city more environmentally friendly. As many as 258 electric cars may arrive within the next several months, with an option to purchase an additional 79 vehicles.
This expansion of electric cars in MZA's fleet is part of ongoing investments in zero-emission vehicles. The city of Warsaw will become a significant part of a green, environmentally friendly city center through these purchases.
This second order for Solaris zero-emission vehicles made by MZA Warsaw this year is a testament to the successful partnership between the two entities. The total number of electric cars that MZA Warsaw may purchase from Solaris this year is up to 337 (258 + the earlier 79).
This development underscores MZA Warsaw's commitment to sustainable transportation and its vision for a greener future for the Polish capital. The ongoing investments in zero-emission vehicles by MZA Warsaw are expected to contribute to a significant increase in the number of electric cars in the Polish capital, making it a more environmentally friendly city.
