Restoration Project Underway at the Historical Town Hall

The historical City Hall is set to undergo a comprehensive renovation next year, but before that, an unexpected issue has arisen. During routine facade inspections, it was noticed that the supporting beams had shrunk due to the prolonged drought in the spring, causing one of the suspended carriers to crack.

The affected area has been supported by a scaffold, and a crane will be used to move the almost two-ton suspended carrier back into its original position. The contracted companies have five weeks to accomplish this task.

The immediate repair will focus on stabilizing the cracked carrier by reinforcing or shoring the supporting beams to prevent further damage or collapse. Care will be taken to remove surrounding materials without harming historic finishes.

For the long-term repair, a permanent structural solution will be designed to preserve the gallery's historic integrity. This will likely include installing new or supplementary support beams, repairing or replacing the cracked carrier, and addressing any underlying causes such as load distribution or material deterioration.

The gallery, which is supported by eight double columns and natural stone carriers, has a unique design. The natural stone carriers are beveled at the top to allow for additional carriers to be hung between them. The iron gallery railing, floor tiles, and overlying sandstone blocks above the affected carrier must be removed during the repair process.

The affected adjacent carrier also needs to be secured during the removal process to prevent it from tipping. The first construction phase of the renovation will focus on the south facade, but the repair of the cracked carrier will be carried out concurrently.

It's important to note that the renovation is contingent on funding from the federal government. The specific repair plans and timeline are yet to be officially announced, so for authoritative and precise details, one would need to consult the managing authority of the Historical City Hall or the contractor/engineers involved in the repair process.

After the repair process on the cracked carrier is completed, focus will shift towards enhancing the overall aesthetic of the City Hall. This will involve making improvements to both the lifestyle and home-and-garden aspects, as well as home-improvement projects, to restore the historical building's original charm.

Once the structural repairs are finalized and the immediate threat has been addressed, companies will start working on rejuvenating the home-and-garden elements of the City Hall, such as the iron gallery railing, floor tiles, and sandstone blocks, contributing to an overall improved lifestyle.
