Relaxing on Campus: Bronx Science Pupils Bask in School Environment

In the latest season of The Amazing Race, seven alumni from the Bronx High School of Science are competing against each other and other teams from around the world. Liza Greenberg, Mariam Samake, Astrid Grimskog-Tran, Amanda Ro, Arianna Hwang, Rossitsa Mina Petrova, and Tasnim Haque are all vying for the coveted title.

The Bronx High School of Science is unique among New York City specialized high schools, as it boasts its own campus. This campus is home to several outdoor and communal features that support student relaxation and community engagement. Green spaces such as courtyards and Harris Field, a dedicated outdoor physical education field with historical significance, offer students places for physical activity, relaxation, and socialising between their rigorous academic schedules.

These green spaces and garden areas also play a crucial role in fostering student interaction and personal growth. While the Enchanted Garden is more specifically connected to Bronx Theatre High School, it is indicative of a local culture of garden restoration and green spaces being used as hubs for students to relax, collaborate, and learn leadership skills. Such spaces contribute significantly to morale and community-building.

The campus life at Bronx Science blends academic rigour with outdoor areas like courtyards, Harris Field, and other green spaces, providing students with opportunities to unwind, socialise, and engage in extracurricular activities. This balance is crucial, as it supports a well-rounded campus life despite the intense academic environment.

As these seven competitors embark on their global adventure, they bring with them the spirit of their alma mater. We wish them the best of luck as they race around the world, testing their physical, mental, and teamwork abilities. Stay tuned to catch them in action on The Amazing Race!
