Offenbach Municipal Authority Conducts Successful Dog Checks in Second Quarter of 2025

In the heart of Germany, the city of Offenbach saw a proactive measure taken by its municipal authority in the second quarter of 2025. The city police and waste inspectors joined forces to conduct dog checks throughout the city, aiming to ensure compliance with rules and maintain a clean and orderly environment.

A total of 149 dogs and their owners were inspected during these checks. The results were encouraging, with only 13 out of 149 dog owners found to have violations.

Among the offenses detected were four dog owners who did not have a dog waste bag, six who walked their dogs without a leash, and two who had unregistered dogs for tax purposes. One owner combined several violations, facing administrative offense proceedings and a tax payment. Another dog owner was observed not removing their dog's waste and had to pay a fine of 150 euros.

The continuation of these dog checks in the third quarter of 2025 was announced by Wambach. The checks are not limited to small waste checks but also include enforcement of other dog-related rules. They aim to address any instances of dog owners not following the rules, even if they are few, to maintain a clean and orderly city.

Common dog-related violations in many German cities, including Offenbach, often include not keeping dogs on a leash in designated leash-required areas, failure to clean up dog waste, not registering or licensing dogs properly, allowing dogs to disturb the public peace (excessive barking), and violating breed-specific regulations if applicable. Fines for such violations can vary typically from around 20 to several hundred euros depending on the severity of the offense and local ordinance details.

For the most accurate and detailed information about Offenbach specifically, consulting the city's official website or municipal ordinance (Hundeverordnung) would be advisable, as local rules and fines may differ.

These dog checks are part of the ongoing efforts to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the city of Offenbach, setting a positive example for other cities to follow. The authorities plan to conduct more dog checks in the third quarter of 2025, with the hope of continuing to improve the city's living environment.
