Redesigned Sunseeker Ocean 156 Yacht: Lavish Interior Features Spacious, High-End Accommodations
New Luxury Yacht: Sunseeker Ocean 156 Impresses at Southampton Boat Show
The latest offering from Sunseeker, the Ocean 156, made a promising debut at the Southampton Boat Show, leaving a strong impression with its impressive interior space, innovative design, and varied layout options.
The Ocean 156, an 82ft vessel, showcases a remarkable utilization of its available space, offering a range of functional and stylish layouts. Not only is the interior spacious, but it also boasts an expansive array of exterior deck spaces that add to its appeal.
One may question how Sunseeker managed to incorporate all these features without compromising anything, given the unconventional dimensions of the vessel. The unusual proportions contribute to this feat, though they do not fully explain it.
The show boat featured a seating arrangement aft, the galley midships, and a dining area forward. The impressive beam of the boat dwarfs those of its class contemporaries, with its near vertical bow carrying the beam far forward. The size and shape of the superstructure capitalize on this by starting further forward than usual and featuring an enclosed upper deck, which houses the helm, freeing up the main deck for socializing purposes.
The Ocean 156 can accommodate four ensuite doubles, including a substantial full-beam owner's cabin. The monstrous beam allows for ample space below decks, accommodating a huge midships owners' suite, a generous forward VIP, and two comfortable guest doubles, all with their own ensuite bathrooms.
The upper deck, however, truly stole the show. It is considerably larger than expected, offering an opening sunroof, two fixed skylights, a drop-down side window, and sliding side and rear doors leading out to raised aft and foredeck areas. This creates a bright, versatile, and expansive space that surpasses the upper deck of the Ocean 182 in terms of look and feel.
As impressive as the Ocean 156 is, it must be tested at sea to receive the final seal of approval. If it lives up to its early promise, it may give potential buyers second thoughts about the Ocean 182, given the 156's almost equal features at a significantly lower price point.
The vessel's open decks, free-standing furniture, and balustrades in the raised aft cockpit are just a few of its unique features. Sunseeker is known for using GRP hulls in many models, and the Ocean 156 appears to be no exception. This model also benefits from upgraded MAN 1100 CRM engines, a solid fiberglass sunroof, and newly replaced teak on both the swim platform and the cockpit walkway.
