Protest Gatherings Happening in Over 30 Locations Throughout Düsseldorf on 12th August
The 2022 Düsseldorf Book Fair invites visitors to explore over thirty exhibits from 2 PM to 10 PM on August 12th, with a new location in southern Düsseldorf at Waschte 161 Kultur Bud Wersten. This former kiosk will debut at the Book Fair, transforming into a cultural hub with various activities planned for the day.
The team around Dirk Rauchmann and Sabrina Hantke anticipate a bustling crowd at Waschte 161, offering a diverse program for all ages. Despite the lack of electricity, planned activities include giant soap bubbles for children and lyrical texts readings by Tom de Toys from 4:30 PM. The evening will feature the beer can challenge, live music by Annabel and Joy, and a photo point to capture memories before renovations commence.
In addition to Waschte 161, the Hermannplatz will host a family event with a pop-up booth offering refreshments, a craft market, and several engaging children's activities. The church square will feature a large summer festival in cooperation with "Die Friedrichs," showcasing performances by Georg Zimmermann & Band, Mayo Velvo, and other acts.
Elsewhere, the Bike for Blessing and Democracy will make a stop at the Book Fair on Mintropplatz, while the Museum Express, represented by Sebastian Jung, will tour the event on a bicycle with a mobile photo booth portraits of the kiosk owners.
Special events at this year's Book Fair also include a Hip-Hop booth, celebrating 50 years of Hip-Hop, and a neighborhood flea market offering bargains. For a vibrant party atmosphere, various locations such as Strandpirates in Oberbilk, Call Shop Radio at the Kürzer-Biergarten, and Düsseldorf labels Candomblé and Themes for Great Cities at the Pausenbrot will provide entertainment.
The grand closing party will take place at Kö106, featuring Düsseldorf DJ legend Jimmy Radant and other DJs from 10 PM. For comprehensive information about the Düsseldorf Book Fair, including locations, times, and events, visit the official website here.
The Düsseldorf Budchen Day, organized by the Düsseldorf Budchen Day Association since 2016, is a decentralized, low-threshold neighborhood festival. It involves freelance artists and creatives, as well as the operators of the Budchen, making it a social hub and a meeting place for neighbors of diverse ages, genders, backgrounds, and religions. The event offers opportunities to celebrate the unique cultures and communities that define Düsseldorf.
At Waschte 161 Kultur Bud Wersten, a vibrant home-and-garden lifestyle will be featured as part of the Düsseldorf Budchen Day activities, complete with giant soap bubbles for children and lyrical texts readings by Tom de Toys. Meanwhile, visitors can immerse themselves in the diverse arts and culture scene at Hermannplatz, where the family event will showcase home-and-garden craft market stalls.
