It's Not Just Work Anymore

Before the grand opening, the Wal Bar team of around 50 people threw an awesome team event: games, icebreakers, delicious grub, and a stunning sunset over the Baltic Sea. Hannelore Düppert, a founding member, says, "Working here—it's actually no longer work." Christoph Krause, the operator, attributes this to the beach setting and the laid-back vibe. (See the video for a glimpse of the team event and Wal Beach Bar's incredible sunset atmosphere.)

10,000 Guests or More During Hanse Sail

On the eve of the opening, the team was the center of attention. Around 40 to 50 of the approximately 100 employees of the Wal Bar and the affiliated Dock Inn Hotel gathered on the beach to warm up for the season with beach games and get-to-know-you activities. Most of the bar staff are students.

"We need a lot of people here," explains Krause. During the Tocotronic concert during the Warnemünde Week, he estimates that around 5,000 guests will attend, with up to 10,000 during the Hanse Sail and the fireworks display.

Let the Good Times Roll (For Free!)

Here's what makes Wal Bar special: all concerts and events are totally free! "That's very important to us," says Krause. He's against fencing off the beach, explaining that it confines guests to a small square with the music but no sea view. Krause and his team finance these fantastic events, including the upcoming Tocotronic concert, through bar sales and sponsors.

Around 40 percent of the team are newbies who joined the Wal Bar family on the day before the opening. Moritz Grosche, the FNB manager of Wal Bar, stresses, "The best part of my job is being together with people." And let's face it, the anticipation for the upcoming season is just electric!

Krause, Grosche, and Düppert often express amazement at the wonders they've created together. They all agree that a strong network of mutual support and healthy relationships are the keys to success. Düppert adds about the team spirit, "We organize team events because a cool team community also brings great energy to the beach."

In the midst of Wal Bar's engaging events lineup, outdoor-living and home-and-garden enthusiasts can look forward to enjoying a picturesque setting during the Hanse Sail, where up to 10,000 guests are estimated to attend, basking in the stunning sea view and partaking in the free concerts and activities that Wal Bar offers as part of their lifestyle ethos. Fostering a strong sense of community, Wal Bar's team consistently organizes events like team gatherings and games to create a cool team atmosphere that generates positivity and excitement for the summer, inviting everyone to let the good times roll during their seasonal celebrations.
