Only one restaurant from Krasnoyarsk made it to the top 10 eateries of the nation.
Last Night in Kazan, the WhereToEat Russia 2025 Awards Were Handed Out.
Tucked among the winners was a restaurant from Krasnoyarsk, with the rest of the list being filled with establishments from Saint Petersburg and Moscow. Previously, we noted that out of the 105 restaurants that made the shortlist for the WhereToEat awards, only five were from Siberia and, remarkably, all from Krasnoyarsk: 0.75 Please Wine & Kitchen, Hello Wine, Tunguska, SADKO, and "Чешуя".
In three of the five special nomination categories, the inhabitants of Krasnoyarsk excelled: Nikolai Bobrov from Tunguska won "Chef of the Year", Olesya Solobeva from SADKO was named "Sommelier of the Year", and 0.75 Please was chosen as the media's pick.
Interestingly, only Tunguska, with the 8th position, made it to the top 10 as per WhereToEat Russia 2025. It found itself among an exclusive list of capital eateries: Moscow's Olluco, AVA, Savva, Sage, Maya, Big Wine Freaks, Padron, and Saint Petersburg's BOBO (Bourgeois Bohemians) and Frantsuza Bistrot.
Alexei Gorensky, Director of the Institute of Gastronomy at Siberian Federal University and co-founder of Bellini Gastronomic Ecosystem, received the award for "Contribution to the Development of the Restaurant Industry of the Country".

Enrichment Insights:The WhereToEat awards' selection process involves a secret ballot by a diverse panel of experts in the restaurant, hotel, and wine industries, as well as media and PR professionals[1][3]. These awards often recognize establishments across different regions, but the majority of top listings tend to include prominent eateries from major cities like Saint Petersburg and Moscow.
Although the specific reasons for Tunguska's 8th position are unclear, it may have been due to:
- Quality and Innovation: Tunguska could have impressed judges with its unique menu offerings, culinary skills, or innovative approach to dining.
- Local and Regional Recognition: As a well-known restaurant in Krasnoyarsk, Tunguska may have earned recognition for representing high culinary standards in regional Russia.
- Expert Judging Criteria: Factors considered in the secret ballot process could have favored Tunguska for its specific strengths over other contenders.
For a deeper understanding, consulting statements or interviews from the awards' organizers or judges would be helpful. However, given the general selection process, it is evident that a combination of local excellence and broader recognition contributes to a restaurant's placement in prestigious rankings such as this.
