Obligated VW Staff Member Unable to Depart
A VW worker from Brunswick, named André Ebeling, has a heart as vast as his fundraising efforts for the Syke children's hospice "Löwenherz." For the past eight years, he's been pedaling for a purpose with his project "Cycling for Löwenherz." What started as a modest 130 euros has blossomed into an impressive 8,000 euros last year, stirring gratitude in his heart.
Gears Up for Another Ride
André's relentless commitment to the cause is evident. He's planning a Charity Day at the Hygia Fitness Studio in Brunswick in September, filled with various courses, unique sauna infusions, food trucks, and kid-friendly activities. The event was a hit last year, and with even more excitement this time, he's confident it will surpass expectations.
The core intention behind André's endeavors is to provide a sense of consistency and security to the children's hospice, no matter how small his project might seem. Following the guiding principle "No car, but a bike," he aims to symbolically cycle the donated funds back to Syke, around 180 kilometers away. The children's hospice is hosting an open day on Saturday, September 20, and André intends to kick off the celebration with a night tour on his blue touring bike, starting from the Eintracht Stadium in Brunswick. Weather permitting, he's looking at around 14 hours for the ride.

Fundraising for children's hospices frequently involves participating in or organizing events, such as marathons or charity walks, and leveraging social media to raise awareness and attract donors. Cycling, in particular, is popular due to its accessibility and the potential for long-distance rides attracting significant contributions. Routes are often chosen for their scenic or challenging characteristics, while fundraising targets are set based on distances covered or flat rates for participation. The events are promoted through various channels to attract more donors.
André's upcoming fundraising event for Löwenherz children's hospice, "Cycling for Löwenherz 2025," encourages outdoor-living and home-and-garden enthusiasts to contribute to a noble cause. The event, featuring a night tour on a blue touring bike, supports the lifestyle of providing a secure environment for the children at the hospice.
