Community initiative marks the start of Vietnam's fresh era, with participants completing one billion steps collectively.

The large-scale walking event, "Cùng Việt Nam Tiến Bước" (Moving Forward with Vietnam), is currently underway across Vietnam, aiming to promote national pride, solidarity, and unity among its citizens. Organized by the Nhân Dân (People) newspaper and the Ministry of Public Security, the event is taking place from July 25 to August 16, 2023, in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the Traditional Day of the People's Public Security on August 19, and National Day on September 2.

Citizens from 34 provinces and cities across Vietnam are invited to participate in this patriotic event. The activity aims to contribute to the journey carrying the message "One Billion Steps into a New Era." Participants can register online at the official website cungvietnamtienbuoc.nhandan.vn and start tracking their steps.

In Dong Nai, the walking activity is designed to foster patriotism and unity within the province, encouraging residents to participate actively in a shared symbolic journey reflecting the country's progress and resilience. In Hue, the "Marching Forward with Vietnam" route includes streets named after key historical dates and figures involved in Vietnam's revolutionary history, reinforcing the walk's connection to the nation’s proud heritage.

The event aligns with broader patriotic movements in Vietnam, such as the "I Love My Country" media campaign, which engages youth nationwide in fostering pride and positive actions for the homeland. "Cùng Việt Nam Tiến Bước" serves both as a physical demonstration of unity and as a symbolic reaffirmation of Vietnam’s historical struggles, achievements, and ongoing national development goals.

Lê Quốc Minh, editor-in-chief of the Nhân Dân newspaper and head of the organization committee, states that the walking event aims to create an unprecedented activity for a healthy and green Vietnam. On August 16, participants will don red and yellow star shirts and gather at Ba Đình Square to watch a flag raising ceremony and sing the national anthem together.

The event is described as a collective action with political and social significance, reflecting the nation's determination to overcome difficulties together, maintain health, strengthen solidarity, and pursue sustainable development and strong integration in the new era. Members of Đỗ Ngọc Dương's club are excited and eager to participate in the event, viewing it as an opportunity to foster community connection.

To date, the number of steps recorded on the online registration portal has exceeded 150 million, which is one-seventh of the set goal. The event has also garnered the support of many organizations and tens of thousands of youth union members across the country, making it a gathering of all generations and social classes from various locations across Vietnam.
