Museum has commenced operations in Gütersloh
Gütersloh, a city renowned for its bustling economic activity, is set to host a unique exhibition that explores its rich history. The Haus der Geschichte Nordrhein-Westfalen will be visiting Kreis Gütersloh from September 19 to 28, 2025, with its mobile exhibition "MuseumMobil".
On the occasion of the MuseumMobil's arrival, a formal event titled "The Economy of Gütersloh - Between Global Brands and SMEs" was held. Dr. Franz Jungbluth moderated a lively panel discussion during the event, featuring Maria Unger (long-standing Mayor of Gütersloh), Albrecht Pförtner (City's Building, Mobility, and Environment Director), Dr. Christoph Lorke (historian from the LWL-Institut für westfälische Regionalgeschichte), and Dr. Franz Jungbluth (chairman of the local history association).
The MuseumMobil container will be located on the Theodor-Heuss-Platz in Gütersloh. Visitors can interact with the Haus der Geschichte Nordrhein-Westfalen team at the exhibition container, which is open to all from 10 am to 6 pm daily until September 28, 2025.
At the core of the MuseumMobil presentation are selected objects, documents, and photos of state history. The exhibition also includes interviews with eyewitnesses and an interactive experience via tablets inside the exhibition container.
The Gütersloh local history association has donated a sausage-making machine to the Haus der Geschichte Nordrhein-Westfalen. This sausage-making machine symbolizes the transformation processes between agriculture and industry in the region.
Bertelsmann, Miele, and Hagedorn are names that have long been associated with the region's image. In addition to the main exhibit, mobile display cases and interactive stations will be on display at the Stadtbibliothek, Blessenstraße 1, 33330 Gütersloh.
The MuseumMobil container presents 53 exhibits with stories from all regions of the state. The purpose of the visit is to invite visitors to explore the history of North Rhine-Westphalia, offering a fascinating journey through time that highlights the city's economic development and its significant contributions to making Gütersloh a thriving economic hub.
