The "Am Tacheles" construction project in Berlin's vibrant Mitte district is making significant strides, with the residential buildings primarily being constructed on Johannisstraße. The project, which began in 2018, is set to partially open this year.

The winning design for "Am Tacheles" was submitted by the renowned architectural firm, Herzog & de Meuron. The project will see the creation of 275 owner-occupied apartments, adding an unspecified number to the existing count in Mitte.

Around the restored historic "Tacheles" building on Oranienburger Straße, ten new buildings are being erected. Seven of these will be high-quality residential buildings, while three will be office and business buildings.

The former Kunsthaus "Tacheles" will house a branch of the photography museum "Fotografiska", set to open by the end of 2022. "Fotografiska Berlin" will be the fourth branch of this museum, alongside those in Stockholm, New York, and Tallinn.

The museum aims to establish itself as an open cultural centre in the capital. In addition to the residential and office spaces, the project reserves an additional 12,000 square metres for retail.

Meanwhile, "Fotografiska Berlin" also plans to include a restaurant in its offerings. The construction of the museum and the surrounding buildings is progressing rapidly, with the "Tacheles" gradually revealing its new facade.

It's worth noting that the "Forum on the Museum Island" is unveiling its facade separately from the "Am Tacheles" project. Similarly, the Bauhaus Museum in Tiergarten is being renovated and expanded, independent of the "Am Tacheles" project.

The "Am Tacheles" project, with its blend of residential, commercial, and cultural spaces, is set to contribute significantly to the dynamic urban landscape of Berlin's Mitte district. According to current planning, the project is set to be completed in the coming year.

"Fotografiska" is a photography museum founded by the Broman brothers, Jan and Per, located in Stockholm, Sweden. The private museum's Berlin branch is eagerly anticipated by photography enthusiasts and culture lovers alike.
