Munich's Ander Art Festival Goes Zero-Waste
Munich's Ander Art Festival, held annually at Odeonsplatz, is now a zero-waste event, thanks to the support of Mayor Dieter Reiter, who serves as its patron. The festival, organized by the Cultural Referate, the Migration Council, and the Office for Intercultural Affairs, offers a unique blend of culture and community on the last Saturday of September, coinciding with the second day of Oktoberfest.
The Ander Art Festival, established in 1997, has always been a hub for diverse art and culture. This year, it has taken a significant step towards sustainability. The international food stalls are operated by the Community Kitchen, which uses rescued food, reducing waste and providing delicious, eco-friendly options for visitors.
To ensure accessibility, the festival provides mobile induction loops for people with hearing impairments. This inclusive approach allows everyone to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and performances.
The Ander Art Festival, under the patronage of Mayor Dieter Reiter and organized by dedicated city departments, continues to grow and evolve. Its commitment to zero-waste practices and accessibility makes it not only a celebration of art and culture but also a testament to Munich's dedication to sustainability and inclusivity.
