The Bersenbrück Museum im Kloster in Germany recently celebrated its centenary with the "100 Jahre Museum" (100 Years of the Museum) jubilee exhibition, which opened its doors in September 2024. This special event marked the 100th anniversary of the museum, which was founded in 1924 by Landrat Dr. Hermann Rothert in the abbess's wing of the former St. Marien cloister.

The exhibition offers a captivating journey through the museum's rich history, highlighting its significant role as both an 'educational institution of the highest rank' and a 'Sleeping Beauty' during its century-long existence. The exhibition will remain open until Sunday, February 2, 2025, providing visitors with an opportunity to delve into the museum's history and local history museums' development.

The festivities surrounding the jubilee exhibition included two open days and performances by various bands, choirs, and theater groups. On Saturday, September 27, the Bersenbrück high school big band, Artland gospel group, Bersenbrück chamber choir, and choir Chorisma performed, with Marcus Bruns from the Plattdeutsch band "Wippsteert" leading the evening as a moderator and singer. The following day, Sunday, September 28, was designated as a family day, featuring wooden play offers, a bouncy castle, and musical performances by school bands, shanty choirs, and HpH bands.

In addition to the exhibition, visitors can also purchase an extensive companion booklet for a donation, delving deeper into the museum's history and the development of local history museums. Public guided tours through the exhibition will be held on November 10 and December 15, each at 2 pm, offering a more in-depth exploration of the museum's history.

As the exhibition has now closed, the Museum im Kloster in Bersenbrück is currently presenting other exhibitions, such as "Fantasievolle Welten in unseren Kinderzimmern," starting from March 6, 2025, and "Jamaican Art," running from June 28 to August 24, 2025.
