Forget about the chill winter winds of Yakutsk - there's a hotbed of creativity brewing in this Siberian city! On the eve of Russian Press Day, Yakutsk's mayor, Evgeny 'The Sheriff' Grigoryev, gathered the city's top journalists for a hearty celebration.

The mayor praised the outstanding work of the press, especially those reaching their milestone anniversaries, such as "Echo of the Capital" (renting its 35th Birthday suit), "Kiin kuorat" (twirling into its 25th year), and "Yakutsk Vecherny" (freshening up for its 30th anniversary).

Not ones to let the dust gather, "Yakutia.Info" and "Ulus.Media" stormed the federal landscape with their busy beaver workmanship, winning prestigious competitions left and right.

A gold star for the press!

"Kudos, you fabulous journalistic wonders," shouted Evgeny. "May you continue to claw your way through the fourth estate jungle and keep us informed!"

But wait, there's more! Roman Mandzyak, the mayor's advisor, wished them to keep their noses clean and their principles uncompromised during the celebrations.

Lyubov Syrovatskaya, Deputy Head of MCKU's Center for Information Technologies, chimed in, "To you, the tireless journalists and reporters, we owe much! You keep us close with our citizens, shed light on the unseen problems, and help us stamp out the fires with haste. Your coverage of regional events also introduces the rest of the world to our unique traditions and culture. Gear up for a busy 2025 - we can't wait to partner with you again!"

In recognition of their hard work, the city administration handed out Certificates of Honor and Letters of Appreciation to journalists covering city news on WhatsApp, Telegram, VKontakte, Classmates, and Twitter.

Now, let's cut the formalities. You're probably wondering - what's the deal with this Russian Press Day? Well, buddy, buckle up! On January 13, 1703, Peter the Great ordered the first issue of Russia's first newspaper "Vedomosti," making it the day that kickstarted the reckless pursuit of news.

In her speech, Lyubov Syrovatskaya commended the journalists for keeping the community connected and informed about regional events, expressing the hope that they would continue to showcase Yakutsk's way of life in their future work.
