Library's fresh proposition: Renting out board games available for citizens

The city library of Meerbusch is set to host a game event on Saturday, September 20th, from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM, showcasing its new collection of board games at the Stadtbücherei Meerbusch.

This exciting event, taking place in the seminar room on the first floor, will offer attendees the chance to discover and test both new and classic board games. Bettina Schüren, the library's director, stated that the expansion of their offer is in response to numerous user requests.

The new collection includes board games alongside console games, highlighting the importance of playing as an essential part of culture. The games are divided into two categories for easier search: those for children up to the age of eight and those for people aged eight and above.

Whether you're looking for a family evening activity, a school class project, or a group gathering, the library's new collection has something for everyone. The games can be borrowed for 14 days each with a valid library card, with the option to extend the loan period and make reservations.

For further information, the library team can be contacted by email at stadtbibliothek@ourCity or by phone at 02132 - 916 448 during opening hours. The event itself is free of charge and no registration is required.

Playing board games has been found to have positive effects on the development of children and young people, fostering team spirit, patience, problem-solving skills, and fairness. Board games are considered a living cultural heritage that connects generations, fosters social skills, and strengthens strategic thinking and communication skills.

So, whether you're a seasoned board game enthusiast or a novice looking to explore the world of board games, mark your calendars for the Meerbusch City Library's game event on September 20th. It's a fantastic opportunity to engage, learn, and have fun!
