Langenhorn's summer break is gaining popularity once more
This summer, children in Hamburg, Germany, have a treat in store with the return of the popular Langenhorner Ferienspaß. Running from July 24th to August 28th, this event offers a wide range of activities designed to keep young minds and bodies busy during the school holidays.
The Langenhorner Ferienspaß, organised by LaHoMa and its partners HASPA-Langenhorn and Hanseatic Energy Service (HES), takes place in various venues across the Langenhorn neighbourhood, including local sports clubs, community centres, and outdoor spaces.
Activities cater to a variety of interests, from sports workshops such as soccer, basketball, and tennis, to creative workshops like arts and crafts, painting, and DIY projects. Outdoor adventures include guided nature walks, scavenger hunts, and playground games, while water fun like sprinkler runs, small pools, and water balloon games are on offer during hot weather.
Cultural events such as puppet shows, storytelling sessions, and music workshops provide an educational twist, while excursions to local museums, farms, or swimming pools offer a change of scenery. Social gatherings like picnics, BBQs, and community parties encourage interaction among kids.
Each Thursday during the Ferienspaß, the "Langenhorner Hit-Tage" adds an extra layer of excitement with activities such as bungee jumping, lantern making, crafting, and large games. These events are free of charge and open to all Langenhorner children.
One of the highlights of the Langenhorner Ferien-Malwettbewerb, a competition inviting all young artists from Langenhorn aged 3 to 12 to submit their holiday picture, takes place throughout the holiday period. The winners will be announced on September 20th as part of the Oktoberfest.
Registration for most activities is required in advance through local community centres or online. The event aims to be accessible for all families, with most activities being free or low-cost. Age groups are typically divided to ensure activities are appropriate for each age range.
For the most up-to-date information on this year's schedule and detailed program, it is best to check the official Langenhorner Ferienspaß website or the Hamburg district office’s event page closer to the summer holidays. Local community centres in Langenhorn may also provide flyers and registration details.
On July 31st, HES invites all children to enjoy a giant jumping castle on the LaHoMa market square. August 21st features the puppet theater presented by LaHoMa for the 14th time as part of the Ferienspaß. The event concludes on August 28th with lantern making in the rooms of HASPA at the Langenhorner Market.
The Langenhorner Ferienspaß is a fantastic opportunity for children to have holiday adventures together, prevent boredom during the six weeks of summer holidays, and enjoy a fun-filled summer in Hamburg.
During the Langenhorner Ferienspaß, young minds can engage in creative workshops, such as DIY projects or painting, transforming their home-and-garden skills. Meanwhile, families can participate in outdoor activities like nature walks, scavenger hunts, or water games, creating memorable moments that contribute to their lifestyle.
