Krea Youth Club Nabs Young Europe Award
The Krea-Jugendclub from Refrath, Germany, has once again made headlines by winning the Youth.Kultur.Preis NRW for their European youth project "CREATE!". This marks the second time the club has received the prestigious award.
The project "CREATE!" is a European youth initiative that brings together young artists and the team from Refrath. It falls under the broader category of European youth projects, which focus on cultural exchange, creativity, and skill development among young people.
The 11th Youth.Kultur.Preis NRW took place at the state-wide youth arts and culture festival SEE YOU in the socio-cultural center Sojus 7. Out of 151 applications, ten projects from eight cities in the state were awarded. The Krea-Jugendclub's performance at the award ceremony was described as a "showstopper", with the laudation praising its authenticity, interactivity, and self-efficacy.
The European idea was at the heart of the project, with young people from Bergisch Gladbach, Liverpool, and Florence participating. The project took place during the autumn holidays in 2025 and focused on the topic "CREATE!", which means creating and acting. A total of 37 young people participated in the project.
The Youth Culture Prize is supported by the Ministry for Children, Youth, Family, Equality, Flight, and Integration of the state of NRW. The project carriers for the Youth Culture Prize are the LKD (LAG Cultural Pedagogical Services / Youth Art Schools NRW e.V.) and the state association LKJ (State Association for Cultural Youth Work NRW e.V.).
Such youth projects generally have a positive impact by fostering creativity, cultural understanding, and collaboration among participants. They provide young people with opportunities to develop new skills and perspectives through international engagement. The Krea-Jugendclub's participation in the project has not only earned them recognition at the award ceremony but also enthusiasm at the SEE YOU festival itself.
The Krea-Jugendclub's dance and music show was energetic and captivating, proving the power of young cultural work. The project's powerful message and professional implementation impressed the jury, with the laudation commending the club for its contribution to international understanding.
