With warm weather on the horizon, many swanky outdoor pools are ready to unveil their attractions. For instance, in Hannover, the Annabad - overseen by the Police Sports Club - commences operations today. Meanwhile, in Braunschweig, the Bürgerpark outdoor pool, one of the city's three, is welcoming swimmers as announced by Stadtbad Braunschweig. They're extending an invitation for a "traditional first splash."
In the vicinity of Bremen, Achim, and the Moskaubad in Osnabrück, the outdoor swimming season begins this Saturday.
Affordable fun for all!
The eco-friendly Freibad Uchte, nestled within the Nienburg/Weser district, offered free entry, sausages, and bubbly on the first day of summer, garnering a crowd of 1,200 visitors. "We found 1,200 visitors drenched in fun!" a park employee exclaimed.
The pool's affordability is commendable, charging €5 for adults, €2.50 for children, and €10 for families. "The complimentary parking lot is a regular meet-up spot for Bremen, Hannover, and even Hamburg license plates," the park employee shared. Currently, with the cooler weather, 100-200 guests journey there daily, with seniors and early risers accounting for a large chunk of the visitors.
Both Freibad Nöpke in Neustadt am Rübenberge and Freibad Hagen in Lüneburg commenced their pool parties on May 2nd.
The Stadionbad in Bremen, sharing grounds with Werder Bremen's stadium, swung its doors open on May 1st. "Shattering last year's record of 1,900 people," stated pool spokesperson Susanne Klose, "was definitely a victory!" The iconic waterside pool will celebrate its centennial anniversary in August with exciting events.
The Schlossparkbad, Horner Bad, and Blumenthal will initiate their pre-season on May 16th, with extended hours planned for the main season starting June 15th.
Coastal pools opt for a later debut
Pates of East Frisia, get ready to wait a few more days. In several locations, fans of summer swimming will have to wait. The van-Ameren-Bad in Emden, managed by a citizens' association, will start its season on May 17th.
A week later, on May 24th, the heated seawater pool in Dornumersiel (Aurich district) will welcome swimmers. The pool's unique location just beyond the dike, near the North Sea beach, sets it apart on the coast. It has undergone recent technical updates, as per the Dornum municipality's tourism society.
In contrast, the Friesenbad in Weener (Leer district) has already been up and running for a few days. Its remote heating system keeps the water toasty from mid-April to mid-September, as per the operator.
