Kazakhstan Boosts Pensions, Honors Elderly in Month-Long Celebration
Kazakhstan has boosted its pension amounts and is honouring the elderly with a month-long celebration of Earth Day 2025. The base pension has been increased, with the minimum now at 70% and the maximum at 110% of the minimum living wage. Over 2.5 million people benefit from these changes.
The Kazakhstani government has issued an instruction to raise the minimum pension amount from 65% to 70% and the maximum from 105% to 110% of the minimum wage rate, effective January 1, 2025. This comes as part of the country's social policy to ensure a dignified old age for its citizens.
In recognition of the elderly, Kazakhstan is celebrating Earth Day 2025. Proclaimed by the UN General Assembly on December 14, 1990, this day is marked worldwide, including in Kazakhstan. From October 1, a month dedicated to Earth Day 2025 will begin, featuring various events and activities.
The country operates 127 centers for active longevity, providing services such as health culture initiatives and public relations support. These centres have a total budget of 7.5 billion tenge in 2025. Additionally, solidarity pensions have seen an 8.5% increase from January 1, 2025.
Kazakhstan's pension increases and celebrations for the elderly demonstrate the country's commitment to social protection and respect for its older population. These measures aim to improve the lives of over 2.5 million pensioners.
