Join 'Main Station Area' Development Plan Event on Oct 9

The public is invited to learn about and contribute to the 'Main Station Area' development plan at an event on October 9th, 6 PM at BC III, Willy-Brandt-Platz 13, Ground Floor. The plan includes housing, offices, and social facilities, with a focus on sustainability and green spaces.

The development plan, currently in the public participation phase, aims to create a modern, sustainable neighborhood around the main station. It includes space for around 600 residential units, 30% of which will be social security housing, offices, gastronomy, commerce, social facilities, and two new kindergartens.

Sustainable mobility is a key aspect, with an emphasis on public transport and bicycle parking. Car parking spaces will be concentrated in neighborhood garages. The plan also prioritizes green spaces, including expanding Park Viewegs Garden, and sustainable concepts like sponge city elements and a specific energy concept for the neighborhood.

After the public display and evaluation of inputs, the development plan will be finalized and submitted to committees in the first or early second quarter of 2026. Planning documents can be viewed online or at the Old Town Hall. The public event on October 9th will allow questions and further discussion.
