Insight from the Realm of Mobility Industries

In the rapidly evolving world of automotive and energy, several significant developments have taken place.

Leslie Peltier, an experienced professional in the automotive industry, has been appointed as the Global Communications Director of the Citroën brand, effective from September 8. Peltier brings a wealth of knowledge to the role, having worked for Mercedes-Benz Germany, DaimlerChrysler France, Volkswagen Group France, and other companies. She holds a European degree in International Marketing from ISIC.

In a related move, Stéphane Cesareo, the previous Global Communications Director of Citroën, will take on new tasks in brand and technology communication for Stellantis in the Enlarged Europe region.

Meanwhile, in the energy sector, Eon, a leading company in the field, has estimated that 60 percent of the available battery capacity in electric vehicles could provide almost 8,000 megawatt hours of energy at night. This energy is enough to supply 2.5 million households and reduce the use of gas power plants. Eon sees great storage potential in the batteries of electric cars.

However, the broader use of bi-directional charging, which allows power to be stored and fed back into the home network or power grid, is still hindered by missing legal frameworks, standards, and market-ready tariffs. By early 2025, more than 225,000 electric vehicles are prepared for bi-directional charging.

In the automotive production scene, Porsche has temporarily ruled out local production in the US due to increased export costs due to US tariffs. The German car manufacturer does not find local production cost-effective at the current stage, given lower quantities compared to companies like Audi. Porsche has no immediate or concrete plans to enter local production in the US.

On a personnel note, Inga Dransfeld-Haase has been appointed as the new Personnel Director and Labor Director of TÜV Nord AG, effective September 1, 2025. Dransfeld-Haase brings extensive experience in leading HR functions, having previously held various leadership positions at Nordzucker AG in Braunschweig. Since September 1, 2021, she has served as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and Labor Director on the Executive Board of TÜV Nord AG in Hannover.

These developments underscore the ongoing transformation in the automotive and energy sectors, with a focus on sustainability, innovation, and efficient energy use. As the world moves towards a more electric future, the role of cars as potential power storage solutions, as well as the potential for bi-directional charging, is becoming increasingly important.
