Inmates in Yakutia's Prisons Showcase Artistic Skills in Annual Ice Sculpture Competition
Inmates in Yakutia's penal institutions have showcased their creativity and skill in the annual ice and snow sculpture competition. The event, held among various correctional facilities, saw intricate sculptures of traditional figures and animals, symbolizing the Eastern calendar year.
The competition, organized by the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Republic of Yakutia, saw participants starting preparations as soon as the first snow fell. Inmates designed sketches, collected snow and ice, and worked tirelessly to bring their visions to life.
The sculptures included figures like Father Frost and the Snow Maiden, as well as animals that represent the current year in the Eastern calendar. The press office spokesperson, Yulia Kharlamova, praised the inmates' dedication and artistic talent.
The top three positions were awarded to Penal Colony No. 1 (1st place), Correctional Center No. 5 (2nd place), and Penal Colony No. 6 (3rd place).
The ice and snow sculpture competition in Yakutia's penal institutions not only showcased the inmates' artistic skills but also fostered a sense of community and healthy competition among the correctional facilities. The winning institutions were recognized for their exceptional work, with Penal Colony No. 1 taking the top prize.
