Horst Hussel: A Comprehensive Artistic Legacy Exhibition Opens Oct 4

The Kulturquartier Mecklenburg-Strelitz is set to host a special exhibition honouring the multi-faceted artist Horst Hussel. The event, 'Horst Hussel - A Mecklenburg Artist', will open on October 4th at 4 PM, featuring a musical performance by Klaudia-Friederike Holdefleiß.

Hussel, a native of Mecklenburg, was a true Renaissance man, excelling in various artistic disciplines. As a painter, drawer, graphic artist, illustrator, writer, and publisher, he left an indelible mark on the region's cultural landscape.

His illustrations adorned over 100 books, bringing whimsy and wit to countless pages. The upcoming exhibition will showcase this aspect of his work, along with his graphic art and storytelling, divided into five thematic groups.

Parallel to his book artist work, Hussel created a vast array of paintings, drawings, and graphic works. Etching was his preferred technique, allowing him to create intricate, detailed pieces. His books and portfolios often featured limited editions, an original graphic, and printing on handmade papers, adding a tactile dimension to his art.

The vernissage on October 4th at 4 PM will not only unveil Hussel's artistic prowess but also treat attendees to a musical performance by Klaudia-Friederike Holdefleiß. The exhibition, running parallel to his book artist work, will provide a comprehensive look into Hussel's diverse artistic legacy.
