Homemade Holiday Decorations for Christmas
Jamie, a creative crafter and Hometalk.com representative, has been busy this year creating unique Christmas decorations despite the lack of storage space in her home. Last September, she even set up a garage Christmas tree for a post that was published last Thursday.
In the past, Jamie has crafted a modern wall tree a few times but not this year. Instead, she has been focusing on smaller projects like a monogram Christmas wreath for her front door, which she made last year in Florida. This year, she added lights to the wreath to transform it into a peace wreath for October, making it festive for Christmas time.
Jamie's mantle is the extent of her Christmas decorations this year. She has a bottle cap Christmas tree picture, a glass bowl of ornaments, and a white nutcracker adorning it. Giant snowflakes, originally made for a snowman scene on the window, are currently living on her fireplace.
Jamie shared her monogram Christmas wreath tutorial on Good Day Austin, and she recently crafted an advent calendar for Homes.com. However, she hasn't repeated the festive spirit of earlier projects like the snowman window scene in August or the garage Christmas tree.
Interestingly, Jamie and her partner Andy have never had a real Christmas tree in their home. Jamie finds herself curious about where readers store their Christmas stuff and where they put their everyday things that get moved for Christmas.
For those looking for Christmas decoration storage solutions, Jamie recommends using acid-free archival-quality boxes specifically designed for Christmas ornaments, divided plastic or fabric bins, wooden crates and tiered trays, or even creative, budget-friendly storage hacks. These strategies focus on protecting fragile decorations with padded, compartmentalized, and acid-free storage and using sturdy, stackable containers that maximize space and keep items organized and accessible for future use.
Jamie's friend Allison wrote a humorous post about the lack of Christmas decor in her home, and Jamie's house is not as festive as Emily's. However, Jamie is expecting a baby and plans to get more festive with DIY Christmas decorations next year.
