Hands-on Bee Workshop: A Practical Learning Experience on Bees

On August 1, 2024, the Equal Opportunities Office of the City of Pforzheim is set to host a unique and educational event – the Bee Experience Workshop. This free workshop, scheduled to take place from 10 am to 1 pm, will be held at the Old Freidhof in a quaint Tiny House.

The Bee Experience Workshop aims to introduce girls aged 9 to 16 to the fascinating world of honey and wild bees. The interactive event offers an opportunity to delve into the lives of these vital insects, learning about their roles in ecosystems, the importance of bee conservation, and the art of beekeeping.

Heike Herb, president of the Baden Beekeepers' Association, will share her insights into the daily work of an experienced beekeeper. Participants will also have the chance to meet a beehive while wearing protective clothing, providing a hands-on experience in beekeeping basics.

Throughout the workshop, participants will engage in creating beeswax tealights and natural cosmetics, learning about the role each individual can play in the preservation of bee species. The goal of the workshop is to encourage more women to enter the field of beekeeping and appreciate the profession and hobby.

Registration for this exciting event is required by email to [email protected] by July 25, 2024, due to limited space. For the most accurate and updated information on the workshop, including the detailed agenda and registration process, we recommend checking the official website of the City of Pforzheim or contacting their Equal Opportunities Office directly.

Attendees of the upcoming Bee Experience Workshop in Pforzheim can look forward to a session where they will create beeswax tealights and natural cosmetics, showcasing how home-and-garden practices can contribute to bee conservation. Additionally, the event aims to inspire more young girls aged 9 to 16 to consider a lifestyle and profession centered around beekeeping and the preservation of these essential insects.
