Graffiti Workshops at Arnsberg Station Enhance Urban Landscape
In a unique collaboration, a series of graffiti workshops were held at Arnsberg Station, as part of a creative enhancement project funded by the Arnsberg City Culture Office for Urban Arts. The workshops, which took place over two weeks, were a joint initiative between the local youth fire brigade, the Arnsberg Fire History Association, and a family office.
The first workshop, which concluded last week, was led by the graffiti artists of "Spray Duo" from Soest. Participants learned the correct spray technique and responsible handling of materials, ensuring a safe and productive environment. Mayor Ralf Paul Bittner visited the workshop on its last day to inspect the almost completed artwork at Arnsberg Station.
The highlight of the workshops was a tour through the fire museum "Brennpunkt," offering an interactive experience of the fire department's history. This was followed by the creation of a 32 by 4-meter artwork on the outer wall of the fire museum.
In the second workshop, which is currently underway, six participants are redesigning a WC container next to the station. Using Arnsberg landmarks and guidance from the "Spray Duo," they are transforming the container into a vibrant piece of art.
Other interested parties also participated in the workshops, contributing to a diverse and inclusive creative environment. The Arnsberg Fire History Association provided catering for the workshops, preparing a warm lunch daily for participants, artists, and supervisors.
The artworks at Arnsberg Station and the WC container are expected to continue contributing to the enhancement of the station area. The participants hope that these creations will be preserved in the long term, leaving a lasting impact on the community.
