Saturday marks the opening of ten galleries for Karlsruhe Gallery Day, offering attendees these noteworthy exhibits and artists.

The city of Karlsruhe is set to host its annual Gallery Day this coming Saturday, promising an exciting exploration of contemporary art from various local and international artists.

In the heart of the city, Galerie Meyer-Riegger (Klauprechtstraße 22) is presenting the exhibition "The Threshold," featuring the multifaceted and filmic work of Ulla von Brandenburg. Known for her stagings that combine dance, rituals, song, and color, von Brandenburg explores the space between light and shadow, and fact and myth in her works. Her art, presented in Super-16mm films, not video art, promises a unique visual experience.

Meanwhile, Yvonne Hohner, the new chairperson of the Karlsruhe Gallery Association, is looking forward to the event. Hohner is bringing the Berlin-based Syrian artist Tammam Azzam to Karlsruhe for the occasion. Azzam's new watercolors explore destruction, loss of homeland, quiet beauty, and resilience, offering a poignant commentary on current times.

Hohner's gallery, Yvonne Hohner Contemporary, is also showcasing works by artist Josef Andexlinger. Across town, Thomas Ummenhofer, a KIT professor, is having his first gallery exhibition at Ewald Karl Schrade, where he combines filigree sculptures with technical precision in his art.

The Autumn Open Gallery Day is a significant event in the Karlsruhe art calendar, featuring professors and young artists from the city. One such artist is Franziska Schemel, a multidisciplinary artist based in Karlsruhe, who exhibits her light-flooded worlds at the Alfred Knecht gallery (Baumeisterstraße 4).

Markus Jäger, a graduate of the Karlsruhe Academy, combines photography, computer, and ink to create structural compositions at the Burster gallery (Baumeisterstraße 4). The Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota fills the Clemens Thimme gallery (Lorenzstraße 2) with experience spaces, promising an immersive artistic journey.

To make the event more accessible, a free shuttle service and a gallery bike tour are offered. The Geschwisterraum hosts a group exhibition in its exhibition space (Welfenstraße 6), supporting cultural exchange between Germany and Africa.

As the city's art scene continues to thrive, the Gallery Day offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the vibrant world of contemporary art in Karlsruhe. Don't miss out on this exciting event!
