Twenty-Three Abandoned Bicycles Find New Homes Through Charity Auction

Twenty-three bicycles formerly part of an inventory of forsaken cycles at Regensburg Central Station were recently auctioned off for a charitable cause by Regensburg Station Management (DB InfraGO). The event, held at the RVV stand, drew a substantial crowd, with some attendees bidding on multiple bicycles to provide them with a second life.

The earnings from the auction will go to the Regensburg Station Mission, an organization that offers support to individuals facing challenging life situations daily. Anton Stadler, Managing Director of IN VIA Regensburg and head of the facility, stated that the funds would directly contribute to their daily efforts—for example, counseling, provision, or simply a sympathetic ear for those in need.

The auction was a testament to the visitors' engagement, with a special focus on the RVV's main theme, "RVVswipe," attracting significant attention. Kai Müller-Eberstein, Managing Director of the RVV, expressed delight at the events' success, linking the engagement to the RVV's commitment to both social commitment and sustainable mobility. Walter Reichenberger, head of the station management, also lauded the action, praising its combination of social responsibility and environmentally-conscious transportation practices.
