Firefighters who volunteer in Guttau commemorated the summer season with a festive procession.
Last weekend, the small town of Guttau was alive with excitement as the local volunteer fire department hosted a summer festival. The event, which attracted 246 citizens, offered a variety of activities for all ages, including games, face painting, pony riding, flower and target shooting, bowling, and nail balancing.
The festival parade, accompanied by the fire music corps of the community fire department of Grömitz and the play music corps of Oldenburg, was a highlight of the day. 13 flag-bearing delegations, comrades of neighboring local fire departments, locals, and guests participated in the parade.
Upon arrival in Grönwohldshorst, the festival parade was greeted with a special gesture that particularly pleased the comrades who were present at the fire in the spring of 2025. The carpentry in Grönwohldshorst had provided a small drink break during the festival parade, a touching reminder of the support the community had shown during the difficult time.
In the nail balancing competition, Vivien Becker secured the king's title for the second time, while Marko Jurk from the partner fire department Guttau-Sachsen was crowned the new nail balancing king. In the shooting competition, 104 shooters competed, with Hugo Peters from the neighboring fire department in Cismar emerging as the new shooting king.
The festival's highlight was the crowning of Queen Caro, the I., who christened her bird and subsequently shot it to open the official bird shooting. Traditional bird shooting took place on Friday as part of the festival. The king's title was won after some exciting rounds at 20.45 hours.
The festival ball was celebrated with DJ Helge until the early morning hours, with King Hugo, the I., opening the event. The festival was a resounding success, bringing the community together in celebration and camaraderie.
After the festival, some citizens took a break to enjoy the peaceful ambiance of the home-and-garden areas, appreciating the lifestyle compatible with outdoor-living that Guttau offers. On Sunday morning, many families continued to indulge in outdoor activities, such as gardening or picnics, extending the festival's spirit into another day.
