Top Baby Names in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern for 2023: Oskar and Ella Rule the Game

Looking for a name for your baby? Well, in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, you might want to consider Oskar or Ella, as those are the hottest first names for babies born in the year 2023!

That's right! According to the latest analysis by the Gesellschaft für deutsche Sprache (GfdS), these names took the top spots in the region. Matteo moved up to second place, closely followed by Karl, who jumped from the fifth spot the previous year. For girls, Mia and Ida were the other popular choices in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

On a national level, Sophia and Noah continued their reign at the top of the list of most popular baby names in Germany, as they have for several years.

The GfdS has been keeping track of the most common first names in Germany since 1977, analyzing data from more than 750 local registration offices. These offices submitted close to 900,000 entries to the society, making up nearly 92 percent of all first names given in Germany in 2023.
