Celebrating 50 Years of District Council 7: A Jubilee Festival and a Commemorative Book

On Thursday, 19th June, District 7 invites everyone to a special celebration at the shooting tent on Gerricusstraße. The occasion? The 50th birthday of the district council!

The day promises to be a gathering for all, from the allotment garden association to sports, tradition, and neighbourhood. It's not a political event, but a meeting for everyone - a chance to come together, celebrate, make connections, voice concerns, and engage with former and current members of District Council 7.

But the festivities don't stop at the celebration. A commemorative book titled "FOR US - 50 years of district council 7 - What was. What is. What will be." is also making its debut. This book offers a unique insight into the diverse work of the district council, detailing formative projects, important decisions, and the people who have dedicated themselves to the concerns of the neighbourhoods.

Notable individuals associated with the district, such as the Allofs brothers, Gerhard Richter, and Jürgen Prochnow, are among the anecdotes featured in the book. It's more than just a historical review; it presents the district council's work in an engaging and accessible manner.

The book, designed by Michael Osche in an appealing way, is the brainchild of journalist Klaus Schröder and historian Peter Stegt. The regular price is 10 euros, but at the citizens' festival on Thursday, you can get your hands on a copy for just 5 euros.

If you can't make it to the festival, don't worry! The book can be purchased in bookstores, and the ISBN number for reference is 978-3000818875. You can also check bookstore websites, official District Council 7 websites, library catalogues, or contact district council offices or community organizations connected to District Council 7 for purchase or distribution information.

Proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to the network against poverty, making your purchase a meaningful contribution to the community.

The festival's programme kicks off at 2 pm and concludes around 5 pm with the legendary band Lazy Beat Bones. So, mark your calendars, grab a copy of "FOR US", and join in the celebration of District 7's 50 years of service!

District 7 includes the neighbourhoods of Gerresheim, Grafenberg, Hubbelrath, Knittkuhl, and Ludenberg. Here's to another 50 years of growth, development, and community spirit!

The commemorative book titled "FOR US" offers an insight into the home-and-garden projects, lifestyle developments, and community work that District Council 7 has undertaken for its 50 years. After the celebration at the shooting tent on Gerricusstraße, you can purchase the book in bookstores or order it online with the ISBN number 978-3000818875.
