**Competition Launched for Bürgerpark Neuss Ahead of 2026 Landesgartenschau**

The city of Neuss, Germany, has announced a landscape planning competition for the Bürgerpark Neuss, which will replace the Landesgartenschau 2026. The heart of the area to be designed is a 30-hectare former racetrack, which is being transformed into a new Bürgerpark.

The open space planning competition was officially launched ahead of the 2026 Landesgartenschau, with a focus on innovative, sustainable, and community-oriented landscape architecture. The aim is to receive a wide range of proposals for the design of the Bürgerpark Neuss. Landscape architects throughout Europe are invited to submit designs and creative ideas for the Landesgartenschau 2026.

The jury convened on March 2, 2023, to evaluate submissions and select the winning design. The first prize was awarded to Franz Reschke Landschaftsarchitektur GmbH, whose concept now forms the basis for the park’s realization. Construction is already underway, with approximately 1,500 out of 2,200 planned trees planted in spring 2025.

The Bürgerpark Neuss will connect and upgrade several green spaces from the city center to the Rhine, integrating the Rhine floodplain into the Bürgerpark as a coherent whole through green connections. The aim is to enrich Neuss in terms of landscape architecture and make a long-term sustainable contribution to climate protection and the overall development of the city.

For prospective participants, detailed submission guidelines can be found on the official Landesgartenschau 2026 website or by contacting the organizing municipality directly. Interested parties can also subscribe to a free newsletter for in-depth information on social developments, culinary arts, art, and culture in Neuss. It's important to note that the newsletter does not send spam.

The formal part of the tender was approved by the supervisory board of the Landesgartenschau GmbH on September 26, 2022. The official launch of the tender will occur in week 39, with the publication of the contract notice via the TED system of the European Union.

The competition for the redesign of Bürgerpark Neuss, focused on innovative and sustainable landscape architecture, calls for proposals that incorporate home-and-garden ideas, promoting a lifestyle that emphasizes sustainable living and gardening. The winning design, connecting various green spaces and the Rhine floodplain, will contribute to the city's development by enriching its landscape architecture and supporting long-term climate protection.
