Dark Hued Sanctuary: A New York Co-op's Bathroom Transformation
A New York co-op's bathroom has been transformed into a luxurious, dark-hued sanctuary. Tony Liu of Diet Prada blended fine art and fashion to create a space that's both elegant and relaxing.
The bathroom, originally redesigned in a 1920s Brooklyn co-op, now boasts walls and decor in a rich, deep black tone by Farrow & Ball. The paint, called Dead Flat, enhances the space with sophistication and robustness.
Natural light filters through frosted glass, casting gold and white highlights on the black walls and decorations. Handmade curtains around the sink hide cleaning products, maintaining the room's sleek appearance. The bath and sink taps, by Bristan Renaissance, were found on eBay.
The space is a blend of traditional Swedish design with a modern twist. Black walls serve as a striking backdrop for plants, highlighting each frond and leaf. The color throughout the bathroom is Farrow and Ball Off Black, with Modern Emulsion used on walls and ceiling, and Estate Eggshell on wooden panelling made from upcycled doors.
A driftwood bath caddy and a rustic bath tray add to the room's rustic charm. The rectangular shower tray is from Victoria Plum, and tiles are from Mandarin Stone. An antique brass candle holder completes the space.
This bathroom, with its dark hues and elegant design, offers a relaxing experience at night with open windows. The blend of traditional and modern elements creates a unique, sophisticated space that's both functional and inviting.
